Chinese Coins

2020 Gold Pandas
Picture
Chinese Gold Panda coins are one of the most popular of all bullion coins for collectors due to its annually changing designs. In 2016, it becomes the first sovereign bullion gold coin to move to the metric system. The one-ounce Gold Panda is replaced with the 30 gram Gold Panda and contains .9645 troy ounces of .999 fine gold.

The obverse features The Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests Temple of Heaven in Beijing in the center with Chinese characters on top saying "Zhonghua Renmin Gongheguo," meaning People's Republic of China, and the bottom showing the year of issue. The reverse portrays the rare and beautiful panda eating bamboo. Unlike many gold bullion coins, the design on the reverse changes yearly, with the exception of 2001 and 2002, which share the same design. The Gold Pandas are legal tender in the People's Republic of China, and are currently issued in the following Yuan denominations and troy ounce weights:
  • 500 (30 grams = .9650 Troy ounces of .999 fine gold)
  • 200 (15 grams = .4823 Troy ounces of .999 fine gold)
  • 100 (8 grams = .2572 Troy ounces of .999 fine gold)
  • 50 (3 grams = .0965 Troy ounces of .999 fine gold)
  • 10 (1 gram = .0321 Troy ounces of .999 fine gold)

We also offer Gold Pandas in fractional varieties. The fractional coins are popular as collectibles.

Like the Chinese Gold Panda, the silver Panda bullion coins change reverse images every year.  The obverse and reverse are the same as the gold pandas. Each coin contains 30 grams (.9645 ounces) of .999 fine silver. The coins have a face value of 10 yuan and are backed by the Chinese government. Call for availability and pricing.
